Castle Life – Elvaston Castle (Derbyshire)

DSC_0596

Sunday (May 19) was seriously the most beautiful day we’ve experienced since we got here.  The sun was out, there were barely any clouds, and it was actually WARM! 21 deg Celsius (70 deg F)! Trust me.. that’s warm around here. After the walking around the Derbyshire Food and Drink Festival, we headed over to Elvaston Castle, just to check it out. You can’t go inside the castle, but you can walk around the grounds and the gardens and the nearby cemetery.

I kinda like that we can drive 30 minutes (approximately) and come upon a castle. Yea, they’re all in different states of restoration (some in ruins and some completely restored to their former glory), and some you can’t even go inside.. but just walking around the outside is pretty awesome.
