Minh and I headed down to London again this past weekend for the London Bike Show / The Telegraph Outdoor Adventure & Travel Show / Triathlon Plus Show / London International Dive Show. Yea.. all four shows in one convenient venue. Before my quick pictorial recap of the shows, here’s a look at what we ate. It never ceases to amaze me how different the food available in London is compared to where we live in the East Midlands.. or how we can so easily stumble upon hidden gems that never show up when we’re trip-planning online.
Sticky Wings – Wings – Brick Lane

Look Mum No Hands – Cafe, Bar, Workshop – Barbican

Benito’s Hat – Mexican – Farringdon

Cocoro – Ramen – Holborn

Homeslice – Pizza – Neal’s Yard, Covent Garden

Scoop – Gelato – Covent Garden

The London Bike-Tri-Outdoor-Travel-Dive Show was pretty cool. We worked our way from one end (the Outdoor Show) to the other (the Dive Show). There was a lot going on.. enough to fill the day if we wanted to. We (unsuccessfully) did a free jump into a huge air bag, ziplined on the world’s longest indoor twin zipline, and checked out a ton of booths. Nothing spectacular or out of the ordinary to report back, but it was a good show.. lots of cool products and companies in attendance.
On Sunday, we had some extra time in the morning before seeing The Lion King at the Lyceum Theater later that afternoon.. so we decided to go to the Museum of London. We got a bit of history for the city within a city within a country within a country, pretty much from its origins as Londinium to present day.
After our fill on London history, we headed toward the West End theater district for the show. We had to take a detour since the road in front of the Royal Opera House was closed off for the BAFTAs . We didnt’ see any celebrities, but we did see a lot of barricades and paparazzi.
Overall it was a really really good weekend. We still didn’t get to do all the touristy things (like the Hop-on/Hop-off Bus), but we still have many opportunities to head back to London. Bonus, it was Valentine’s Day when we got down there.. and although Minh and I don’t tend to celebrate the feast day of St. Valentine, Minh did surprise me a little by sneaking a small (single serving) bottle of “wine” from our stash and some chocolates in his backpack on the way down.
