Just yesterday, Rolls-Royce had a little parade to commemorate the first dispatch of their first production Trent XWB engine. This is kind of a big deal for me, since the company I work for has a lot of products on this engine, and this is basically the first project that I’ve ever worked on as a professional engineer. I was lucky to be in Derby to watch the parade, and I snapped a few pictures.
The Telegraph also has a time-lapsed video of the Trent XWB engine being built. The first engine is now en route to Airbus in Toulouse, France (840-mile road trip!).
