Rock Sculptures of Abbe Foure – St. Malo, France

As a quick detour before heading to Mont Saint-Michel, Minh and I stopped over in St. Malo to check out the Rock Sculptures of Abbé Fours.

Story goes that Abbé Fours suffered a stroke at the young age of 30. After he recovered, he became a hermit and lived in the cliff side caves outside St. Malo. While living there, he carved hundreds of sculptures into the surrounding rocks and cliffside.

They’ve been worn down quite a but from exposure, but they are still pretty amazing and intricate. There’s a small fee to access the trail, but it’s well worth a visit.
