Back to the Roots – Aquafarm/Water Garden
In an effort to try my hand at all sorts of different methods of gardening (on a small scale), I’ve tried something completely new (to me) – though not out of my element. Amazon had a goldbox deal on Earth Day for the Back to the Roots Aquafarm/Water Garden. We’ve talked about trying aquaponics a while back, but didn’t really plan or commit to anything, so this seemed like a good way to dip our toes in the water, so to speak.

Found a nice home for my aquafarm on my craft table
It’s been a few days already and I’m happy to say my betta hasn’t died (yet) and the wheatgrass has started sprouting. The whole system is very low maintenance, but we’ll see in a few weeks what kind of yield we get from the seeds.

Male Veiltale Betta – Want to give it a week in my care before naming it.. just in case

Wheatgrass is sprouting!! this is just after 2 days.
Please pardon the terrible quality of the pictures. We were keeping it dark to keep the room cool.. we don’t have air conditioning and it’s been in the 90s!!
2 May 2015: When was the last time you did something completely new and out of your element? How was it? Will you do it again?
This post is in response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Beyond the Pale.”
